COVID-19 & Arrival
Per the U.S. Embassy COVID-19 Information webpage:
While Korea has lifted most of its masking requirements, you will likely still see many individuals wearing masks, particularly on public transportation. Masks are still compulsory in high-risk places such as healthcare facilities, with fines of up to 100,000 won (approximately $100) assessed for improper masking.
Those who test positive for COVID-19 may be instructed to self-quarantine for up to seven (7) days.
- The U.S. Department of State currently has a level 1 travel advisory (Exercise Normal Precautions) for Korea.
- Effective October 1, 2022, a COVID test is not required for international arrivals to Korea, either before travel or after arrival.
- Arriving passengers will experience some combination of temperature screening, health questionnaires, quarantines, and/or COVID-tests, depending on points of departure, visa, status, and nationality.
- Travelers are encouraged to register their travel and health information through the Quarantine COVID19 Defence (Q-Code) system BEFORE traveling to Korea in order to streamline the airport arrival process.
- Travelers who exhibit symptoms (fever, cough) upon arrival must be tested for COVID-19 at their own expense.
