Royal Asiatic Society Korea
Founded in June 1900, the Royal Asiatic Society Korea (RAS Korea) describes itself as “the world’s oldest Korean studies organization, designed to introduce people to the beauty of this land in all its many aspects. It is also arguably the most active international cultural and social organization in Korea.”
With an active membership of hundreds in Korea, as well as a broader membership extending internationally, RAS Korea maintains a regular program of activities, including lectures and cultural excursions. RAS Korea also contains smaller special interest groups, such as a Korean Literature Club and a Business and Culture Club, which hold their own events approximately once a month.
The schedule of RAS Korea events can be found on their website at raskb.com.
The website also contains information on RAS Korea’s library. This library of around 1,300 volumes is the product of several decades of work. Although the main library is only open to members, non-members can gain access to RAS Korea’s collection of over 350 e-books by visiting their website.
RAS Korea also maintains a mail-order bookstore focused on volumes about Korea.
